General History Overview
February 17, 2014: Samira Maddox, Dana Kamal , Palwasha Rehmani,and Fatima Ahmed come together to create a sisterhood that allows Muslim women at the University of Texas at Dallas to grow closer to theirfaith and have the support of a family. The first name of the sororitybecame Muslimahs For Change Sorority.

June 11th, 2016: Muslimahs for Change adopts greek letters and becomes Mu Delta Alpha Sorority, Inc and establishes the chapter in the Office of Student Involvement at University of Texas at Dallas
In 2017
-
Mu Delta Alpha becomes incorporated under the state of Texas.

February 17, 2017: The Beta Chapter at the University of Texas at Austin is established as the first chapter in a Greek Office.

2017: Gamma chapter establishes itself at the University of North Texas
In 2018

Mu Delta Alpha launches Sakina Home for Girls becoming the first sorority to sustain their own philanthropy
In 2019

October 2019- The Delta Chapter of Mu Delta Alpha Sorority, Inc. establishes at Wichita State University becoming the first chapter outside the state of Texas.
In 2020

April 2020- In the face of adversity from COVID-19, the Everlasting Epsilon Chapter establishes at the University of Toledo..
In 2021

December 2021- The Eta Chapter of Mu Delta Alpha Sorority, Inc. is established at New York University.
In 2022

April 2022- 7 phenomenal women establish the Theta Chapter of Mu Delta Alpha Sorority, Inc. at the University of Maryland at College Park.

September 2022- The first Alumni induction ceremony takes place of a former interest group member who showed dedication to the sorority.
In 2022

April 2023- The 13 members of the Crimson Charter Class establish the Kappa Chapter of Mu Delta Alpha at the Ohio State University.

June 2023- The Sakina Home for Girls, once a project of Mu Delta Alpha, becomes the Muslimahs for Change Foundation and MDA adopts the Muslimahs for Change Foundation as its national philanthropy.

July 2023- The branding guidelines are updated to reflect the direction of the sorority.

Programs and Leadership Initiatives

Fall Week of
Service
Starting in Fall 2023, each chapter will host a 3 day event series focused on providing service to their local community as well as educating on the sorority’s national philanthropy.

Monthly Professional Development Programming
Each month the National Director of Professional Development hosts a workshop on a topic relevant to career development such as resumes, elevator pitches, strengths analyses, etc.

Chapter Excellence Program
The Chapter Excellence Program are guidelines held by the National Sorority to ensure that chapter based programming is based on the pillars of the organization. The chapter excellence program asks that chapters host programs relating to service, islam, sisterhood, and professionalism.
